“The true call of a Christian is not to do extraordinary things, but to do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.” Dean Stanley
The presence of Jesus makes us holy because He is holy. Because He was extraordinary, if we follow Him, we are extraordinary. (From Twelve Days at Silverleaf.)
When we invite Jesus to come into our hearts, He claims us for His own. He removes our sins and makes us a new creation. We become like Him—holy. Extraordinary. Maybe not able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but able to face any situation in our ordinary lives with faith and assurance that God is with us and will not leave us. The Holy Spirit is with us to guide us and help us in the ongoing process of learning how to be God’s people.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a new heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Romans 12:2 NIV — Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
