On the Third Day of Christmas Ali added “Listen for God’s voice. His Word is the truth” to her list.
What would God’s voice be like?
1 Kings 19:11-12 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the erthquake. After the earthquake came fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
Years ago, I took part in a Bible study called “Experiencing God” by Henry T. Blackaby & Claude V. King. In the study I learned that “God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.” (Quoted from “Experiencing God.”) We have to learn to listen to the gentle whispers, to become sensitive and aware of the Holy Spirit working within us to reveal God and His guidance.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.
